Pittsburgh's 18th Annual Can't Stop the Serenity Charity Screening
No power in the 'verse can stop the Rivers & Bridges Brigade of the Pennsylvania Browncoats from presenting Pittsburgh's 18th annual Can't Stop the Serenity charity screening of the 2005 sci-fi classic Serenity!
For the first time in four years, CSTS Pittsburgh will screen Serenity indoors in a proper theater setting. This year's screening will be Saturday, August 19 at the historic Grand Theatre in Elizabeth, PA, a traditional theatre that was built in 1902 and is even rumored to be haunted!
There will be drawings too, including a shiny "door prize" and a special drawing for those who are seeing the movie for the first time. Prior to the Big Damn Movie there will be time to socialize and play Firefly- and Serenity-themed carnival-style games to win even more shiny prizes. Doors will open at 6pm, and the movie will begin at approximately 7:30pm.
Those who make a minimum $10 donation will receive admission and an entry in the "door-prize" drawing (and a special drawing for first-time viewers, if appropriate). All proceeds from this year's event benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania and the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans.
Since 2006, Pittsburgh’s Can’t Stop the Serenity events have raised over $16,000 for various local, national and international charities, and contributed to a global CSTS effort that has raised over $1.35 million! Last year's event raised $800, and with your help, we hope to raise even more this year!
If you are unable to attend but would still like to support the cause, there's a donation only option!.
Can’t Stop the Serenity Pittsburgh is sponsored by Geek Frontiers and Jump Cut Theater. For more information about this year’s event, visit the CTST Pittsburgh website.
