Presented by the Midwest Fine Arts Society, the Midwest Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) is a youth-amateur community orchestra based in Schaumburg, Illinois. Founded in 2007 as the Midwest Chamber Strings, the orchestra has grown from a small chamber orchestra in the suburbs to one of Chicagoland's premiere youth community orchestras. The MPO now hosts up to four concerts per season and has two other affiliated ensembles including the Midwest String Orchestra (MSO), a preparatory string ensemble for students that are just beginning their journey in orchestral performance and the Midwest Chamber Orchestra (MCO), an advanced chamber orchestra consisting of top players in the MPO. In 2019, the orchestra was selected as a winner of the American Prize in Orchestral Performance, naming it a top community orchestra in the nation.
The MPO's mission is to offer high-quality music education in the most unique way by providing one of Chicagoland's lowest tuitions and being open to all students, regardless of age, ensuring that every person dreaming of being in an orchestra can be part of our life-changing experience.
