Description
What if "A Christmas Carol" was written about America's greatest writer of horror and suspense?
That's the idea behind "A Christmas Carol for Edgar Allan Poe."
For two days only, you have a chance to see and hear a staged reading of a brand-new play, commissioned by The National Edgar Allan Poe Theatre and written by Zac Pensol -- both past winners of The International Edgar Allan Poe Festival Saturday Visiter Award.
This staged reading is just what it sounds like: A mashup of the life of Edgar Allan Poe and the structure of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.”
Come hear some of Baltimore’s best-liked actors read the script to a live audience for the first time ever. Then stick around to tell us what you think.
Your opinion will shape the final script of the play when we premiere the full production in December 2025.
Two readings: Saturday at 8 PM and Sunday at 2 PM.
