What is the perfect prescription for a happy life? Slow down, be present, and bake challah! Come share a unique challah workshop led by Beth Ricanati MD, author of Braided.
Join us as Beth leads us through her challah recipe and a discussion about wellness and taking time for ourselves. Discover why Beth learned “that simply stopping and baking bread was the best medicine she could prescribe in a fast-paced world.” This event will be a hands-on experience where Beth will teach the very simple process of each person making challah dough and further discussing how the baking ritual reinforces themes of intention, authenticity, being present, and giving to others.
Each participant will make two batches of dough: one for you to take home to braid and bake; and one that will be used to make challah for Rabbi Stein’s Installation Shabbat on Friday, November 15.
Beth Ricanati, MD is an award-winning author who has built her career around bringing wellness into women’s everyday lives, especially busy moms juggling life and children. She has practiced internal medicine at the NY-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center and the Cleveland Clinic. In addition, her writings have appeared in peer-reviewed medical journals and many lifestyle blogs. Ricanati lives in the Los Angeles area with her family and one challah-loving dog.
