Description

Since 'Academy' started in 2007, students and Academy staff have written and performed 12 original musicals; including Cluedo, Mascara, Academy Awards, Fairytail Academy I & II, and Audition Day. Back To The Past was last year's student musical and this year we bring you a single act show titled 'A Delightfully Grim Situation'.

The showcase will be divided into two parts; the musical during act one and a skills showcase during act two.

In the second act we will experience circus skills and aerial extravaganzas, interspersed with performances of original song compositions and dances. This showcase will give you a flavour of the talent and growth of skills each student has developed since September.

Spinney Theatre is a 630 seat, multi-format venue situated at the bottom of Spinney Hill Road, Northampton, right next door to Bradlaugh Fields.

Our auditorium features fully retractable rows of seating, so it's the perfect place to host your next lecture or conference, or even put on a flat-floor standing-only music event.

First opened in 1977 and built as a community venue on the site of Northampton School for Girls, we remain to this day just as dedicated to showcasing the talent of our students and giving everyone a chance to perform on our stage as we once did almost half a century ago.

We are one of the only performance venues in the County to have our own free carpark on-site, so there's no worry of a long walk back to your car in the rain or dark.

Sustainability is becoming increasingly important as time moves forward, that's why all the batteries in our microphones and wireless equipment are rechargeable and reusable. This reduces the need for valuable raw materials to be used making new, disposable batteries, and saves a huge amount of waste, potentially ending up in landfill. We are also transitioning from traditional, glossy, paper tickets to virtual E-Tickets. As smartphones become ever more popular, why waste paper, ink, and energy printing out tickets when you can have everything safely kept together in your pocket? We just ask our audiences to make sure their devices have charge before turning up to the venue!

All money made from ticket sales for school events gets put back into the school one way or another. We are constantly trying to improve our facilities and give our students the opportunity to use the most up-to-date technology and software in the world of live entertainment. In the academic year of 2021-2022, the theatre was successful in securing financial grants in order to aid this. We are incredibly grateful for all money kindly donated to us, and couldn't continue to operate without your support.

We don't just host shows and events for Northampton School for Girls, our theatre is available to hire for any kind of event, whether it be for an orchestra or business AGM.
