Description
Join Keiki and Plow for an ohana style workshop all about Ulu! Learn the origin story of one of Hawaii's most important crops, join in on a hands on cooking class making ulu pancakes with lilikoi syrup and enjoy a morning of fun on the farm.
This workshop will be taught by Keiki and Plow's own auntie Tuyet Dang, our lead education coordinator and her ohana.
Tuyet joins us with 9 years of experience as an educator, teaching mostly preschool at the University of California at Los Angeles and the University of Missouri - St. Louis, where she attended undergraduate and graduate school. They also ran a math tutoring center and worked at Punahou as a kindergarten teacher during their summer session.
Tuyet and her husband moved to Honolulu about 5 years ago from Los Angeles to raise their son, Holden, who is now 4 years old, alongside their big ohana. Tuyet says, "Leaving the city life for island living has been the best decision for our family. We love being able to connect with our aina and truly embracing what is important for our body and minds."
Tuyet and her son Holden spent many days at Keiki and Plow when he was just a year old. They loved harvesting their own vegetables and really enjoyed the mud kitchen! Working at the farm now brings Tuyet so much joy knowing how much the farm has to offer all our keiki!
We are very excited to have auntie Tuyet teaching this ulu workshop with her family by her side. If you're lucky you may hear her on the farm with her ukulele so don't be shy and join in if you recognize a favorite tune!
