Description
In this two week class, we will introduce all the qualities that make every yarn unique. We will learn about yarn types, materials, ply, and structure and discuss how these qualities make each yarn well suited to different types of projects. We will also learn about the effects created by different hand dye techniques, so you can learn how that beautiful skein you picked up will behave once you put it into a project.
In week two we’ll cover the big question of yarn substitution, and how to identify mystery yarns from your stash. We’ll also have a conversation about how to mix and mach different- even VERY different- yarns in one project.
This yarn is open to any fiber crafter at any level of experience. The topics covered apply to knitting, crochet, and even weaving on your rigid heddle loom. Students should come prepared with a selection of yarns from their stash, a selection of various hooks or needles, and note taking supplies.
