Description

We are excited to share that Dean Black will be running a Residency Workshop with Belfast Playwright's Heather Martin on Saturday December 9th 2-4pm.

Dean Black is Banana Block's current Artist in Residence. During the 'For Folks Sake' residency, Dean will be working on their ongoing CLATCHEN project. They will be exploring themes of queer rurality, domesticity, and interspecies relationality through experimentation with textual, visual and architectural intervention.

Heather Martin (she/her) is a writer from Meanjin/Brisbane, Australia currently living in Belfast. Though her background is in theatre, Heather writes across multiple mediums including poetry and prose, and is currently finishing her first novel. As a playwright and theatre director, Heather has had five plays produced and two published, including her work The Book of David which was shortlisted for Queensland Theatre's Young Playwright of the Year Award in 2016. She is the founder of Belfast Playwrights, a monthly playwriting group and workshop that aims to inspire and connect Belfast-based writers. Heather holds a Bachelor of Journalism and Bachelor of Arts (Writing/Drama) from The University of Queensland, and now works full-time in theatre.

We invite emerging writers and creatives to join us for this workshop.

Please bring with you a pen and notebook or a laptop.
