Description
ASOKERE is a two-day Afro-Cuban dance event in Washington, DC featuring master teachers Yudisleidy Valdes and Dreiser Durruthy Bombale with live music led by Oscar Rousseaux Pons and the legendary Ernesto "Gato" Gatell.
Workshops are open to ALL LEVELS. Class sizes are limited. Event is metro-accessible (Red line, Tenleytown metro).
CLASS SCHEDULE

ARTIST BIOS:
Yudisleidy Valdes - Former dancer in the Conjunto Folclórico Nacional de Cuba. As a former resident artist at Dance Place, she trained a generation of dancers in DC with an ability to quickly connect students of all levels with the fundamentals of body movement/technique.
Dreiser Durruthy Bombale - Former dance instructor at the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) in Havana. An accomplished singer and percussionist, he has toured with Chucho Valdés and Wynton Marsalis.
Live music to be led by:
Ernesto “Gato” Gatell - Legendary singer of Rumberos de Cuba, Clave y Guaguancó, Conjunto Folclórico Nacional de Cuba, among others.
Oscar Rousseaux Pons - Former dancer in the Compañía de Danzas Tradicionales de Cuba JJ. Oscar is also a talented percussionist and previously directed Alafia, his own Afrocuban folkloric ensemble based in the DC area.
