Aug 1 - The Shim Sham w/ Thomas Williamson

Learn the Shim Sham! You know you wanna! This is the popular tap-inspired, Solo Jazz line dance we dance together every Thursday. Swing dancers around the world dance the Shim Sham, and now you will be able to dance it with us.

Prerequisite: No experience or partner required!

Aug 8 - Dancing through Drum Breaks (for any dance style) w/ Jennifer Reed & Matt Mitchell

The song is killer, you’re in the groove, and then it strikes — the infamous drum solo! In this All-Levels elective, Jen and Matt will give you ways to keep your dance flowing while celebrating the crazy rhythms coming at you! Bring on those bass, drum, and rhythm section solos!

Prerequisite: You are comfortable with the basics of 6-count Swing, Lindy Hop, or Balboa.

Aug 15 - Dean & Jewel -style  Lindy Hop w/ Tabitha Robinson & Joe Robinson

AKA "Hollywood-style", "Smooth-style", or "SoCal-style",  learn a different way of moving in Lindy Hop! You will learn connection, counterbalance, and swivels as well as some moves and styling to achieve this aesthetic and dance to music of all tempos, including the fast tunes. Check out Dean & Jewel dancing in the movie Buck Privates!

Prerequisite: You are comfortable with Lindy Hop technique and foundational moves. Intermediate + up!

Aug 22 - Musical Building Blocks w/ Cailin Flaherty & Keli Hawthorne

Build your musicality from the ground up! Have you ever wondered how to hear the beat in a song, what it means to "find the 1" and how to do that, or how to use a song’s structure to enhance your moves? If so, this class is for you! This workshop will empower dancers of all levels to own the beat and think about music in new ways.

Prerequisite: No prior experience or partner required. All levels are welcome and encouraged to attend!

Aug 29 - Beyond Open & Closed Lindy Hop w/ Kari Kron & Thomas Williamson

Looking to expand your comfort zone and find some more Lindy hop inspiration? Let's learn some content you might not have covered on the social floor or in progressive classes in the form of a fun, musical, and socially-danceable choreography. We'll go beyond closed and open positions to show you how to use and play with some less common hand holds, connection points, and patterns.

Prerequisite: You are comfortable with Lindy Hop technique and foundational moves. Intermediate + up!
