A personal story is enhanced when told in comics form.
In this class, experienced graphic novelist David Lasky will guide you through the process of creating short comics, leading up to a finished autobiographical story. We’ll look at examples from masters of the medium while exploring different aspects of comics in a variety of exercises and assignments.
Explore your own history by creating a visual story that only you can tell. Drawing ability is not as important as the desire to communicate your ideas clearly!

IMPORTANT: This class requires all attendees to mask for the entirety of class. Masks will be provided at the front desk if you haven't brought your own.
All materials are provided for this class. You may choose to bring your own sketchbook, iPad for Procreate, or laptop for Photoshop, but it is not required. This class is recommended for adults.
David Lasky (he/him) co-authored the graphic novel Carter Family: Don’t Forget This Song, which won comics’ Eisner Award in 2013. He is the colorist of the Newbery Honor Book El Deafo by Cece Bell. For the past 18 years, David has taught graphic novel to all age levels in a wide variety of venues.
