Description
J.S. Bach (1685-1750) Suite No. 4 in E-flat major, BWV 1010;
J.S. Bach (1685-1750) Suite No. 6 in D major, BWV 1012;
Colin Carr, cello
Formidable cellist Colin Carr will complete our cycle of J.S. Bach’s Suites for Unaccompanied Cello. Suite No. 4 in E-flat major is the only suite in a key that is not based on the naturally resonant open strings of the cello; it fosters an atmosphere that is genial and yet intimate. By contrast, in the virtuosic, exuberant Suite No. 6, Bach dreamed big and composed for a five-stringed cello. Cellist Colin Carr has performed the complete Bach Suites in London, New York, Boston, Montreal, Toronto, Amsterdam, New Zealand, Hong Kong, among many other cities. This will be a rare chance to hear such a well-seasoned interpretation of these two works. In between the two suites will be a short Piatti Caprice just to refresh our palate. Before the performance, we invite all to join in a conversation with Mr. Carr led by Artistic Director Hsin-Yun Huang.
Part three of three concerts presenting a full cycle of the 6 Bach Cello Suites. Hear them all and save $$$ by purchasing the Bach Cello Suites Subscription: $79 for tickets to all three concerts!
