Description
Next up is HOLES by Louis Sachar. Stanley has been unjustly sent to a boys' detention center, Camp Green Lake, where the boys build character by spending all day, every day, digging holes exactly five feet wide and five feet deep. It doesn't take long for Stanley to realize that Camp Green Lake isn't what it seems.
This book is recommended for ages 9-13 (roughly grades 4-7th). Grab your copy (or audio version) and a reading journal to jot down your favorite parts to be discussed in our meet ups. (We also love seeing your drawings or paintings.) Each meet up we will discuss the chapters read, do a fun activity relating to our story, and enjoy fellowship over FOOD. Lots of outdoor play time will be had as well. We will meet over four Thursdays, March 30th, April 6th, April 13th, and April 20th from 3:30-5pm. Our last meet up we will have a book celebration by watching the movie Holes over a meal together!
*We will communicate through email the chapters to be read prior to meet up and each gathering will be snack potluck style so bring your favorite snack to share. Drinks will be provided. This book club is free but donations are appreciated!
