Description

The Gillette Community Theatre is proud to announce our full-day event, "Beginner's Theatre Workshop" to be held May 1st at the First United Methodist Church.

The workshop will be held from 9 am to 5 pm and has been set up to help those who are new to theatre, as well as those who would like to brush up on their skills, do so in a fun and educational way.

ACT 1
Scene 1  [9 am to 10 am]
You will begin the day learning Audition Games and loosening up for the remainder of the day's classes.

Scene 2  [10:15 am to 11:15 am]
You then continue onward to Character Development where you will learn how to transform into your characters, such as through dialects and mannerisms.

Scene 3  [11:30 am to 12:30 pm]
After this, you will learn how to be better at Memorization so that you can more easily learn your lines and have more fun exploring your roles.

INTERMISSION
Lunch [12:30 pm to 1:30 pm]
All this knowledge works up an appetite!  Girl Scout Troop 1160 will be offering a paid lunch option as well as snacks and drinks throughout the day.

ACT 2
Scene 1  [1:30 pm to 2:30 pm]
As classes being again, you will be introduced to Reader's Theatre where you will be shown how to perform a script by reading aloud.

Scene 2  [2:45 pm to 3:45 pm]
Building upon your skills your next class will be on Improv which is where you have to think quickly on your toes and is useful in live theatre situations.

AFTER PARTY
Community Discussion  [4:00 pm to 5:00 pm]
Finally, we end the day's workshops with a Community Roundtable to discuss the topic of Why Theatre Is Still Relevant In Our Community and to America


This whole day of learning and fun is just a flat fee of $10 - We hope to see you there!
