Description
Chronicling a sea voyage has always been part of what happens on board a boat and these written narratives are the basis for much of our understanding of maritime related history.
Modern day adventurers and sailors continue this tradition with personal journals, blogs, essays or the dream of writing a book of one's own about adventures on the water. For many the question is how to go about it in a way that captures the spirit, not just the day-to-day details, of a voyage.
This workshop will equip each participant with tips and techniques for writing about your impressions and thoughts along the way and a framework for transforming those notes into a lasting memoir of your adventure. Participants will use either personal past experiences or, weather permitting, a 90-minute trip aboard the gundalow Piscataqua as the basis for the workshop exercises.
Cost: $130 (SBM members); $145 (SBM non-members). Lunch will be provided.
Location: Strawbery Banke Museum Stoodleys Tavern meeting room and aboard the gundalow PISCATAQUA (weather permitting)
Instructor: Sarah Anderson, poet, freelance writer, educator and owner of The Word Barn in Exeter, NH.
