Description
Bianca van Heydoorn is a New York City native, currently living in Philadelphia. Her path to becoming the Executive Director of the Youth Sentencing & Reentry Project (YSRP) was not a straight line. Like so many of the young people her organization serves, Bianca’s journey began in a loving, close-knit family that had too many barriers and too few resources. In her presentation, The Value of Multiple Stories, Bianca highlights the importance of having a dynamic view of ourselves and others as a guard against the dangers of a singular narrative. She will discuss YSRP’s model of holistic partnership with young people in crisis and the value she’s found in holding all of her personal stories–victim, perpetrator, scholar, cancer survivor and even permaculture enthusiast–as exactly the right source material for her current assignment! She strives to be a servant leader, spiritual seeker and a model for anyone who will listen, that no child deserves to be thrown away.
All attendees to this event are required to wear an N-95, KN-95, or KF94 mask. You will be seated in a separate section to comply with our COVID-19 policy.
