The mission of the Historical Society of Saratoga Springs is to foster public education and chronicle the story of Saratoga Springs’ history by operating the History Museum, conducting programs, and collecting, preserving, exhibiting and interpreting materials that document the city’s social, political, economic, geological and cultural history.

An enriching discussion filled with photos and stories to open up a history of the Spa City that will be new to many people. Author of the book Saratoga Soul: Brandtville Boogie, Carol Daggs is a fourth-generation Saratogian and a descendant of the original residents of Brandtville, a historically African American rural farming community dating back to the 1800s, located at the edge of Saratoga Springs, New York near the Spa State Park. An accomplished musician and entertaining speaker, Carol (and some special guests) will bring Brandtville alive with never-before-seen images and riveting storytelling. The book will be on sale at the talk.
