Description

This fun, family-friendly walking tour invites guests to enjoy the scenic beauty of a neighborhood historically known as Brandtville. The nearly 1-mile loop encourages participants to look for the oldest homes in the neighborhood and identify other interesting remnants that remain in Brandtville, a historic African American rural farming community dates back to the late 1800s.

Carol Daggs, author of Saratoga Soul Brandtville Blues, is a descendant of the original Brandtville residents. This spring, Daggs is offering a guided walking tour sponsored by the Saratoga Springs History Museum. The starting/ending point is at 29 Doten Avenue in Saratoga Springs. Street parking available nearby.

Located at the southeastern edge of Saratoga Springs, New York, Brandtville is situated south of the Southside Recreation Center across Crescent Street onto Doten Avenue. Between the dog park and Racino, this quiet neighborhood is a veritably verdant extension of the Spa State Park.

Tickets are $15 for History Museum Members, $25 for Non-Members.  Children aged 12 and under can attend free and must be accompanied by an adult guardian. Maximum group size 25.

The closest public restrooms are located at the Southside Rec Center, 15 Vanderbilt Avenue. Plan your needs accordingly! Boogie on down to Brandtville to participate in this first tour of 2023! RAIN DATE: SUNDAY, JUNE 11
