Description

Breaking the Curse

Proudly making its LIVE theatre debut, Breaking the Curse is an honest and inclusive exploration of menstruation for all. Through a tapestry of true stories collected from across the prairies, ranging from irreverent and humorous to touching (and sometimes cringey), Rachel Walliser fearlessly brings the individual and shared experiences of menstruation to the stage.

At the 2022 Saskatoon & Area Theatre Awards, the original production of Breaking the Curse was awarded The Trailblazer Award and The Innovation Award, as well as The Excellence in New Work Award for playwright Rachel Walliser. The production was additionally nominated for The Production Excellence Award. This show is appropriate for ages 12 and up.

Content: course language; frank discussion of sex, masturbation, and bodily fluids; mentions of abortion, loss of pregnancy, and suicidal thoughts.

Doors will open 30 mins before the showtime. You are invited to bring a donation of period products which will be distributed to community fridges across Regina.

We will hold the doors for the 2:00pm and 7:30pm buses at the Riddell Centre to accommodate any audience members using public transport.

This production is grateful for the support of Creative Saskatchewan.

Breaking the Curse was originally produced by 25th Street Theatre & Ferre Play Theatre in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Playwrights Centre.
