Description

Presented by Brisbane City Council

BrisAsia LIVE, Brisbane’s premier intercultural creative residency, explores dynamic perspectives on interdisciplinary art-making, creative expression and cultural knowledge sharing.

This year’s live performance is a creative interpretation of the theme ‘The Shape of Us’ - an intention to transcend barriers, work in synergy and find a common ‘shape’ to expression that binds and connects all.

Featuring renowned Indian Classical Mohiniattam dancer Bindu Rajendran, versatile violinist and artist lead Chi Lui Flora Wong, Vietnamese-Australian harpist and artist Lake Kelly, talented Henna artist Sarala Surisetty, brilliant percussionist Tsoof Baras, and breath-taking Chinese folk and classical soprano Zi Wang.

This artist collective will also be joined by emerging artists, South Indian Carnatic vocalist Susmitha Ravi, multidisciplinary artist Maya Sherpa, and visual artist Kuweni Dimuthu Dias Mendis.

This event is a culmination of a 3-day artist immersive residency at Brisbane Powerhouse that will celebrate deep artistic expression and synergistic collaboration.

BrisAsia LIVE’s Open Rehearsal and public Q&A, on Thursday 8 February 1:00 - 2:00 PM, offers audiences a rare and intimate glimpse into the artistic process.

Observe musicians, dancers and visual artists collaborate and rehearse in preparation for the premier performance of ‘The Shape of Us’ on Friday 9 February 7:00 - 8:00 PM.

Supported by Brisbane Powerhouse.
