Description

The Byron Asher/Tomas Majcherski Quartet is a new co-led formation, performing the two multi-reedists' compositions that explore the different instrumentations and timbres available to the group, including a range of saxophones, clarinets and flutes, bass and drums. They are joined in the group by top young creative bassist Matt Booth (Extended) and long-time New Orleans by way of Memphis drummer Doug Garrison (The Iguanas). Asher and Majcherski met in New Orleans in 2013 and formed a fast working relationship, performing together and subbing for each other in various projects around town. They began working on this project in 2023, and a new recording is forthcoming.

Fluttermite is an improvising trio featuring Helen Gillet on cello and electronics, Byron Asher on woodwinds and electronics, and Daniel Meinecke on modular and analog synthesizers. Expect clouds of ambient sound, angular grooves, glitchy electronica, and acoustic free improvisation.

  • The showtime listed for the event is the time the event starts. Doors will generally open an hour before the listed show time unless otherwise listed.
      We allow pets during the day, but not at night for music (anything after 7pm). Service animals are always allowed.
     
  •  Please do not park in the Broad Theater parking lot. We have a parking lot for  The Broadside and plenty street parking available on Toulouse and Lafitte. If you would like to be escorted to your car, please ask the Sheriff on duty. You may also park in the Auto Zone parking lot if they are closed. 
  •  We have a variety of seating options such as benches, picnic tables, chairs, and stools. You are welcome to bring your own chairs, if you require a seat for health reasons or disability, please ask a staff member and they can provide you with a chair.
