THE CARTWHEELS:
are Golden Guitar winners Wendy Phypers and Dave Patterson.  The Cartwheels recorded their fifth studio album ‘The Cartwheels’ in Victoria and Nashville in 2019. The album was produced by Stu Hibberd (Producer of Sierra Ferrell, Long Time Coming).
The album was in the finals of the 2020 Music Victoria Awards for Country Album of the year.
The Cartwheels live show features Wendy’s amazing voice, country, western swing, bluegrass including Wendy’s original songs.
Their latest single Who Cares is a heartfelt song about growing older but doing it with love in your heart and having the ones you love around you and was recorded in an old-style analogue studio. The song has made it to various country music charts around Australia including number one on the Australian Country Radio network.
Wendy and Dave have been performing and recording around Australia since the early nineties with Golden Guitar winning bands The Sparnetts and The Happening Thang and continue to consistently release great country music which is often heard Australia wide on ABC Radio and community stations.

The Cartwheels are festival favourites and are consistently asked back to perform.

She has graced many festivals and venues over the years, including Tamworth, Charters Towers, Alice Springs, Mt Gambier, Lake Charlegrark, the Riverland, Tailem Bend, Port Pirie, Port Augusta, Penola, ABC radio…and the list continues to grow.  She has picked up an impressive collection of musical wards along the way.

-ANZ singer/songwriter of the year 2005-Semi-finalist Tamworth singer/songwriters        Association

-Inaugural SA country artist of the year

While her roots are in country music, Penny has been developing and honing her amazing and memorable voice to a point where she can handle almost any style of music. Her influences include Reba McEntire, Alison Krauss, Dolly Parton, Crystal Gale, Norah Jone, April Smith and Wendy Phypers. Having being born and bred in Cloncurry Qld as a station kid, lived and worked on potato farms in Pinnaroo SA, Penny is very familiar with living the country life.  Although now residing Ballarat, as the old saying goes, “You can take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl” certainly rings true for Penny. This year has seen Penny honing her song writing skills with the anticipation of recording with many of her musician friends from South Australia and Victoria.  It’s a case of watch this space.
