Sharpen your audition and performance skills by working directly with the people behind the table in this three-class series. Workshop your audition, the acting of the song, and gain insight on what they are looking for in each audition.
Each week you will be coached on your audition cuts/monologues by some of the leading casting professionals in NYC who cast for Broadway, Off Broadway, National Tours, Regional Theaters and more.
Instructors and Dates:
- Week 1 (Wednesday May 29, 7pm) with Kevin Metzger-Timson (Tara Rubin Casting)
- Week 2 (Wednesday June 5, 7pm) with Cindi Rush (Rush Casting)
- Week 3 (Wednesday June 12, 7pm) with Jarrett Reiche (Casting By ARC)
Class will begin each week at 7pm and each student will work one-on-one with the instructor on cuts of audition songs or monologues in a classroom setting. Each class will also include a short Q&A, information on the intricacies of the casting process and insight on what the auditioner can do to stand out.
All classes will be held at Open Jar Studios, 1601 Broadway, 11th Floor
Under the direction of Artistic Director, Jeff Whiting, Open Jar’s Professional Class Series provides unique opportunities for performers to continue to hone their skills and work one-on-one with Broadway’s best stars, directors, composers, agents, and casting directors.
BIOS:
Kevin Metzger-Timson (he/him) As a Casting Director at Tara Rubin Casting, Kevin cast the Broadway and national tour companies of Dear Evan Hansen, SIX The Musical, Andrew Lloyd Webber's Bad Cinderella, Disney's Aladdin, and Mamma Mia! Upcoming: Boop! The Betty Boop Musical, Death Becomes Her, and The Preacher's Wife (Alliance Theatre). Regional Theatre: RENT (Paper Mill Playhouse), 42nd Street (Goodspeed Musicals), and The Wizard of Oz (Geva Theatre). Prior to joining Tara Rubin Casting in 2018, Kevin worked as a Casting Assistant and Associate at Wojcik|Seay Casting and Joy Dewing Casting. His film credits include casting director for the independent movie musical I'm Not Gay. Originally from Southern California, Kevin is a graduate of the Orange County School of the Arts in Santa Ana, CA and earned his BFA from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. He is a member of the Casting Society of America and a two-time Artios Award winner for Excellence in Casting. Kevin has also served as a preliminary judge for The Jimmy Awards since 2021.

Jarrett Reiche: Jarrett’s driving force is to create an audition process that allows for a tenacious synergy between Creative teams & artists alike. A mindfulness/meditation guru with a knack for puzzles, Jarrett leaves no stone unturned in his never-ending search for artists. Favorite credits include: Disney’s The Lion King (Broadway & Tour), The Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes (New York), Emojiland (Off-Broadway), White Christmas (Tour), The Color Purple (Tour), Escape to Margaritaville (Tour) and Into The Woods (Hollywood Bowl).
