Description
Six talks to get you thinking, and maybe singing… Cheer up those winter nights with six talks that explore the relationship between music and our relationship with God.
We will explore how our discipleship can be shaped and developed by different types of music. Topics to be discussed include Anglican Choral music, contemporary popular music, music which examines the theme of Remembrance, Taizé chants and the compositions of Gustav Holst.
Speakers include Canon Harriet, David our Master of the Choristers, Kitty a Cathedral Reader, Canon Graeme Smith, a Canon of Honour at the Cathedral and Marilyn Billingham, a PhD student at Bristol University. It promises to be a fascinating and stimulating set of talks, with plenty of opportunity for comment and questions, to help us reflect on the important role that music plays in our discipleship and understanding of the divine. A full programme with further information will be published in the new year.
