Join CID Film Club for the second screening in our Solidarity Film Series. We will be watching Erwiana: Justice for All, a story of Hong Kong's migrant domestic workers' lives and their struggles for their rights and dignity. The film follows Erwiana Sulistyaningsih, an Indonesian domestic worker who was abused by her employer. The film highlights the migrant workers movement in Hong Kong, including the work of Bethune House, a temporary shelter for displaced domestic workers.
We invite community members to support and learn about Asian American and international solidarity movements through a three part movie series. All proceeds will go towards local and international organizers in solidarity with the global struggles of migrants and workers. Donations for Erwiana: Justice for All will go to Bethune House, an emergency shelter for migrant domestic workers in Hong Kong displaced by abusive and exploitative working conditions. They are currently fundraising to keep their shelter open after grant funding fell through this year. Following the screening, we will have speakers zoom in from Bethune House.
Stay tuned for the next screening in the Solidarity Film Series of Ascension on December 8, 2024.
