This workshop explores how creating one’s own journal out of natural materials can provide avenues into exploratory empowerment to create a reciprocal relationship with the surrounding world and therefore benefit a person on multiple levels.

 

Keeping a journal is one of the best activities one can do to reflect on life’s meanings and preserve the moments of time.  In this workshop, we will create a personalized leather-bound journal using natural materials and hand-binding techniques. The front and back cover will be shaped from soft buffalo hide or birchbark, the binding from deer hide, and the pages from your choice of supplied paper.  Finished size will be approximately 9 by 6 inches. 

 

The blank journal pages become potential for one’s relational connections and offer a place where mind, body, spirit, and soul can come together to form something beautiful.

 

• These are soft covered journals and very flexible
• The finished product is intended to be rugged looking which highlights the nature of the materials used

• Discover new and empowering ways to approach relationships with others
• Root oneself in inspired purpose to live a more meaningful life
• Open oneself up to receiving guidance from the more-than-human world
• Explore pathways to thrive in these challenging times while understanding one’s own connections to the universal power available to us

 

Intentions

• Inspire participants to investigate their relationships with the world by directly exploring the manifestations of their connections with the greater surroundings
• Stimulate awareness of how we, as humans, choose to embody our Life-Walk
• Instill a deep appreciation for the guidance available to us through the more-than-human world
• Soulfully be a Witness as participants discover the possibilities of empowerment through creating a handmade product
