Description
Keith Fallows is back and will covering North American cryptids. Handling creatures like Wisconsin’s Beast of Bray Road, a werewolf-like figure prowling rural landscapes, to the eerie, glowing Flatwoods Monster of West Virginia, these entities blur the line between myth and reality. Indigenous tales of the colossal Thunderbird and the sinister Wendigo speak to deep cultural roots, while modern encounters with the Loveland Frogman in Ohio or the livestock-draining Chupacabra in Puerto Rico and the Southwest add layers of intrigue to the cryptid canon.
Other legendary figures include the enigmatic Dover Demon of Massachusetts and Detroit’s ominous Nain Rouge, said to herald disaster. Champ, Lake Champlain’s aquatic enigma, and the bizarre Kirtland Melonheads of Ohio evoke a mix of wonder and unease. Even the humorous Jackalope finds its place alongside the fearsome Lizard Man of South Carolina’s Scape Ore Swamp.
Keith Fallows writes about horror from a mixed approach. He holds a B.A. in English from Neumann University and MFA in Creative Writing from Rosemont College. Currently, he teaches as an adjunct at Lasalle and Neumann Universities as well as Northampton Community College.
