Philly Sketchfest was created in 2008 to celebrate sketch comedy in the City of Brotherly Love. Over the years, Philly Sketchfest has brought some of the best sketch comedians to Philadelphia. In addition to live shows, Philly Sketchfest also produces a podcast, My First Sketch, hosted by Josh Higham, available wherever you get your podcasts.
Description
Two new troupes were randomly assigned together and given a mentor, someone with a wealth of sketch comedy experience. Teams have been given a prompt (a prop, costume, etc) that must be used, at least once, in a 15 minute sketch comedy set. Working with their mentor, they have 30 days to write, rehearse, and perform that set. On the night of the show, participating teams will be given their potential prize money up front to bid on sabotages to inflict on the other team. No one will know the sabotages beforehand, other than the producers of the show. Judges and the audiences will choose a winner who gets to keep their prize money, whatever's left of it, and the chance to move on and crown a Cutthroat Champion.
