View the work of outstanding printers and engravers such as Richard Paine, John W. Barber, Durie & Peck, and Augustus Line at next What’s in the Whitney Library program: “Dictionary Day: Printer and Engravers,” on Sat., Oct. 19, 12-4 p.m.! Register here. On display will be a collection of Noah Webster's writings, the first edition of his dictionary, and other materials made by people printing and selling books in the city, and a provisional stamp engraved for the E. A. Mitchell Post Office by Lines in 1845!
The Whitney Library in the New Haven Museum is open to anyone interested in the past of the city of New Haven. With tens of thousands of documents, books, and archives, the Whitney Library is the most expansive collection of New Haven texts in the city.
