The George Washington Foundation is excited to invite all educators to a special open house! This event is a wonderful opportunity to explore George Washington's Ferry Farm, learn about our engaging field trip programs, and network with fellow educators. Join us as we express our appreciation for educators and see firsthand how our programs can enhance your curriculum and inspire your students.
Discover the enriching experiences we offer for students through our interactive and educational field trip programs, "George Washington: Boy Before Legend" and "I Dig George!" Check out the introductory exhibit located in Ferry Farm’s Visitor Center, The Science of History at Ferry Farm, with colonial and Civil War artifacts excavated on site. Peak into the Archaeology Lab, where you can see some of the thousands of artifacts found at Ferry Farm. Take a tour of the replica Washington House and learn about the lives of George, his mother Mary, other Washington family members, and the enslaved community. Head down to the Rappahannock River and enjoy the site’s walking trails as you study the site’s outdoor amenities, including two reproduced outbuildings.
Educators of all grade levels (preschool, primary, secondary, and post-secondary) from private and public schools, as well as home educators, are welcome. Advanced registration for this event is required.
