Description
French for “in open air,” en plein air painting allows painters to capture a landscape at a particular moment in time. On September 7, artists of all skill levels are encouraged to join us for an en plein air juried art event, with pieces of art inspired by the Wornall House or its grounds or history. A $200 prize will be awarded to a participant 19 years of age or older, and $50 prizes will be awarded in the 13- to 19-year-old and under 12 years of age categories. Museum staff will also award a special “museum’s choice” award in each category. Artists are welcome to create their art the day of the event or they can visit the Wornall House between September 1-6 to create art in advance. All art must be completed and submitted by 3:00 p.m. on September 7. All art formats are welcome, provided they can be submitted and judged on-site. Basic art supplies will be provided for youth categories.
The public is invited to attend this event to enjoy the art process and tour the historic John Wornall House. Light snacks and water will be provided, and free art-focused self-guided tours of the Wornall House will be available. Chairs and picnic blankets are welcome on the grounds.
Judging panel:
