Share A Committee of parents, who are members of The Coop Learning and Real World Adventure Club, are planning this event for our families, homeschool friends, and kiddos.
Description
Please join us for an evening of a million dreams, and be whisked away from the ordinary to the greatest show. The Dance will have a circus theme, modeled after the sights and soundtrack of The Greatest Showman. It will be held at the Clubhouse of the Riverstone Community in Simpsonville.
The vibe of the evening will be 'elevated circus/carnival' and we're preparing a few awe-inspiring surprises over the course of the the evening. It is being planned by a committee of local homeschool parents here in the upstate.

5:00 pm-7:30 pm FAMILY DANCE (SOLD OUT)
Come One, Come all! We welcome parents and children of all ages
Our aim is to create a very special night where families can get together and have a lot of fun. There will be themed snacks -- including fresh-popped popcorn, fresh-spun cotton candy, circus animal cookies, and an assortment of circus-inspired favorites. Families will dance, play, snack, and just have a wholesome evening of fun and memory-making together. We'll have a professional photographer (https://www.nataliejohanikphotography.com) from the homeschool community waiting at the entrance to take photos of families and friends as they arrive on the red carpet, in front of a beautiful sparkly balloon backdrop. Music will be played by a DJ and there will be fun props on the dance floor for the kids to enjoy. We also have a very special surprise in store but we don't want to give that one away and spoil the fun!
DRESS: Wear what you are most comfortable in! Semi-formal or formal attire is encouraged. If you'd like to dress on-theme, we recommend a look that is bold and inspired by a circus or carnival. Masquerade-style circus animal masks are also welcome. We respectfully request that other types of masks or clown attire not be worn. Please think classy circus.
HERE is an inspiration board if you'd like to dress in the theme. Again though, a dress you have in your closet or slacks/dress shirt (or something similarly semi-formal or formal) is also completely fine. Only come dressed in the theme if you'd like to.

7:30 pm -10:00 pm TEEN DANCE
After the lights go down, the second half of the evening will be reserved exclusively for our tweens and teens. Parents and kids under age 11 will depart from the Clubhouse, leaving the party for homeschool students ages 11-17 under the supervisions of our 12 parent chaperones.
This will be a special evening for teens to have some free and independent time with peers their age. Please feel free to invite your homeschool friends to join as well! We'll have fresh-popped popcorn, fresh-spun cotton candy, circus animal cookies, and an assortment of circus-inspired favorites. Professional photographer Natalie Johanik is a member of our homeschool community and she'll be positioned at the entrance to take photos of the teens and their groups of friends as they arrive on the red carpet, in front of a beautiful, sparkly, balloon backdrop. These photos will be such special keepsakes! There are a few other surprises in store, but the BIGGEST one is that there will be a FIREWORKS show outside the clubhouse at the conclusion of the dance (9:45 pm). Someone who lives in the neighborhood does the HOA July 4th show and he'll be setting up this fireworks show for them after the dance!

TICKETS INCLUDE:
A DJ will be spinning tunes. The Clubhouse will be decorated with elaborate Greatest Showman-inspired decor and lighting. We'll have a selection of circus-inspired concessions for all to enjoy --including popcorn, animal crackers, cookies, a healthy selection of crackers, veggies, and fruits, and more. We'll also have an assortment of beverages available. Additionally, there be a glowing array of fun handheld items (such as glow sticks and light-up hula hoops) to bring the dance floor to life. We have a few additional surprises in the works, but we'll refrain from speaking about them here to avoid ruining the fun!
PHOTOGRAPHY:
Natalie Johanik is a wonderful mom and professional photographer in our homeschool community and she is going to be capturing the photos at the entrance of the dance! We’ll have a special balloon backdrop at the entrance, and families will have their photo taken there upon arrival at the Family Dance. Later, our teens (ages 11+) will have their photos taken there with their friends as they arrive at the Teen Dance. Natalie will share the photos with all of us after the dance, in a shared photo album! Here is a link to her Instagram page and she recommends giving it a follow because she’ll be doing some posts relevant to the dance soon!
