Description

It's a countdown till sundown! Prepare for the first night of Hanukkah (and the seven nights after it) with crafts and activities for the whole family. Color a card and decorate custom wrapping paper to gift loved ones, design a dreidel, and craft a menorah to link each candle with something you want to celebrate. See the Ongoing Exhibitions in a new light with a Hanukkah themed scavenger hunt and read a variety of holiday books from our children's library.

Want to do more? The Capital Jewish Museum is proud to partner with the Edlavitch DCJCC to host a D25 Day of Service activity. You can sign up at this link to make activity kits in Cafritz Hall for newly-arrived immigrant children whose parents have to attend long appointments with case managers, attorneys, and others. The kits provide a welcome distraction for our new neighbors! This project is great for volunteers of all ages, and you can enjoy Family Day: Holiday Countdown activities after your shift.

Pre-booked timeslot tickets are required for this event.

* Admission to the special exhibition, JewCE: The Jewish Comics Experience, requires an additional ticket ($0-$10). Advance registration is required.

The Capital Jewish Museum explores the Jewish experience in the national capital region and inspires visitors to connect, reflect, and act—connect personally and collectively, reflect on the relevance of the past to today, and act on behalf of their communities and values. With its experimental spirit, the Museum connects the past to the present through thought-provoking exhibitions, dynamic programming, and creative public experiences. The Community Action Lab invites visitors to engage through hands on-activities, resources, workshops, games, and more.
