Lex Center for Creative Reuse is a nonprofit brick and mortar creative reuse center located in Lexington, KY. A wide and constantly changing array of art and craft supplies are available for sale. Proceeds benefit supply grants for public school teachers, subsidize providing low-cost, high-value art and craft classes, and creating vibrant and engaging opportunities for community art.
Description
A World of Embroidery
12 months of different embroidery techniques with a floral theme.
Each month will highlight a different technique starting with a simple April Showers Redwork piece that also incorporates some basic embroidery stitches. A fun piece for anyone from an absolute beginner to a more advanced needleworker.
You will be able to learn different techniques and experiment with a variety of threads and materials as you grow your embroidery skills. Each month can be done separately or can be combined at the end as a small quilt top!
Each class will also have information on finding and creating designs, transferring methods, fabrics and threads, and useful tips & tricks.
Class Schedule:
- November: Void Embroidery
- December: Crazy Quilting
- January: Whitework
- February: Punch needle
- March 2025 – an extra class to create your own monogrammed square.
Information and instruction will be given on the best stitches for text and resources for letters so you can personalize your stitches.
A workshop will be held at the end to learn how to piece together a small quilt top.
