This lecture is an adventure from Peking to Shanghai via Jingdezhen, exploring the varieties of decorative arts that span thousands of years of Chinese history.  Discover the secret of the porcelain manufacture of the Ming dynasty, bronze casting of the Han and the fabulous cinnabar lacquer of the early Ching.  The talk includes beautiful architecture, salt merchants’ influence on jade and book trade in 18th century China and incredible gold, glass and stone carving – in all, a veritable feast for the eye and mind.
