This year, as we gaze up at the bright round orb in the sky on the night of February 24th, we will witness the Snow Moon in all its glory. But have you ever wondered why it is called the Snow Moon? Well, according to The Old Farmer’s Almanac, this name has its roots in Native American, Colonial American, and European traditions. In these cultures, each full Moon had a specific name that was applied to the entire lunar month in which it occurred. And for the month of February, the name was the Snow Moon. It's a fitting name, as February is typically the snowiest month in the United States. In fact, according to the National Weather Service, it has the highest average snowfall. So let's welcome the Snow Moon this year with a peaceful and reflective full moon meditation led by Kathi. Let's embrace the beauty of the snowy season and find inner peace and stillness under the light of the Snow Moon.
