Description

Intimidated by Writing Poetry? Maybe you're a poet who is stuck in your creative practice. Or maybe you are finding your way back to writing after a long time away and need a little kick in the pants.

During this dedicated creative time, test out forms of poetry that emerge from already-existing media. Rather than coming up with an Idea and then plucking words out of thin air, we will use techniques such as ekphrasis, erasure, exquisite corpse, and other exploratory methods.

In this workshop, we'll let go of perfection, generate new work, and gain practice receiving and giving feedback to your fellow workshop attendees. At the end of these  5 weeks, you'll have a bunch of new work to either continue to revise or to transform into other projects.

This online class is live, but recordings will be provided. This class will take place on Sundays, from 11 am - 12:30 pm, on the following dates:

  • December 1
  • December 15
  • December 22
  • December 29
  • January 5

For this online class, you will need:

  • Internet access
  • Ability to connect to Zoom and Google Classroom
  • Magazines and other items to cut up and use for collage
  • Writing utensils: pencils, pens, markers, etc.
  • Permanent markers (any color)

This class is recommended for students ages 15 and up.
