A goat on a boat is part of the seal for the Town of Cramerton which is a historic mill town that is now an emerging outdoor lifestyle community with trails, parks and the South Fork River along its border. Explore this charming small town on the river with Catawba Riverkeeper! This guided kayak trip is a great way to experience the largest tributary of the Catawba River along a gentle flowing section of water that can be easily traveled upstream, downstream and around Goat Island.
This trip meets at the Riverkeeper's Confluence location in Cramerton and launches onto the water just yards away. We will have an easy paddle for roughly an hour and return to where we launched onto the water. Riverkeeper staff will host and introduction to kayaking clinic on land and in the water while we paddle.
All participant's will receive a sit-on-top kayak, paddle and life vest. Registration is required. All registered participants will receive an outing details email one day before the event.
Where:
- Meet at Catawba Riverkeeper's Confluence – 117 Center Street, Cramerton, NC, 28032
- Parking is available across from Confluence throughout the town's public parking areas.
- The kayak launch is a short walk from Confluence to the river between the fire station and the bridge to Goat Island.
What is Provided:
- Kayak equipment and dry bags
- Riverkeeper staff to host skill clinic and guided tour
- Bathrooms and water to refill water bottles inside Confluence
What to Bring/Wear:
- Appropriate clothing layers to be on the water. You will get wet.
- Shoes with a heal strap. NO FLIP FLOPS.
- Water bottle
- Sunglasses or hat
- Change of clothes and towel (optional)
- Snacks
Restrictions:
Must be 18 years of age to purchase tickets.
Must be 4 years of age to ride in a tandem kayak with an adult.
Must be 8 years of age to ride in a single kayak with an adult in another kayak.
Advanced registration is required.
Weather Policy:
Our policy is to host this program rain or shine EXCEPT in the case of severe rain, thunderstorms or lightning in the area as well as dangerous water level. If we have to cancel, we will provide a refund to all ticketed guests. We will do our best to notify guests of cancellations at least 2 hours in advance via email and phone call.
Refund Policy:
You may cancel your ticket up to 24 hours before your scheduled date. If we must cancel due to weather or water level, your ticket will be fully refunded once notice is sent. You will see the refund 3-10 business days after the refund is submitted.
