Gordon Giltrap. MBE is regarded as one of the UK’s finest guitarists. He is self-taught with a much admired and unique style of playing. This has seen him travel along a varied and highly successful musical career.
Gordon had a big hit in 1978 with his Ivor Novello nominated single ‘Heartsong’. This was subsequently re-released in 2020 as part of the fund raising CD ‘HEARTSONGS’ for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.The all star tracks featured Brian May, Rick Wakeman, Midge Ure, Steve Howe, Neil Murray and Simon Phillips.
Many of his highlights include appearing on Never Mind The Buzzcocks, The Old Grey Whistle Test, The Kenny Everett Video Show and on BBC’s Top of The Pops. In 1996 he was invited by Sir Cliff Richard to be the Troubadour in the musical Heathcliffe. It was in 2019 that he was awarded an MBE for his contribution to music and charity.
Gordon is Patron of The Tracy Sollis Leukaemia Trust and all proceeds will be going to the charity.
Carrie Martin Tonight Gordon will be sharing the stage with his dear friend Carrie Martin regarded by many as one of the finest singer songwriter guitarists to come out of her home town of Hull. Her reputation as an outstanding talent is spreading far and wide. This will be Carrie’s second fund raising appearance for the charity.
