January 30th, 1931 marked the beginning of the severe and systemic persecution of European Jews. Classical saxophonist Sophia Flores and pianist Andrew Edwards will be performing music significant to the Holocaust, including works by Jacobi, Ullmann, Gebirtig, Messiaen, Schulhoff and others. This performance is in remembrance of the six million murdered Jews, who used music as an outlet for resistance and hope, even when their music was silenced." (Recital sponsored by Dr. Carl and Deborah Weinert)
