Discover the art of hand-spinning and create your own beautiful yarn! This beginner-friendly one day class will introduce you to the basics of spinning wool using a drop spindle. No experience needed — just bring your curiosity! All materials provided. Join us for a fun, hands-on experience and take home your first hand-spun yarn!
Our instructor is, Tamarack Marketplace Juried Artist, Kate McComas. Kate learned how to knit in third grade, then returned to knitting when she was in college. She decided that she wanted beautiful yarns to knit with, so she learned how to make them herself. She ended up with a Master’s degree in Art with a studio specialization in weaving.
"Of all the crafts that I have worked in, hand spinning has remained my favorite. In this class, we will start with the fleece right off the sheep. You will learn how to wash it and prepare it for spinning. We will learn to spin wool with a drop spindle and you will go home with your drop spindle and enough wool to continue. I will bring my spinning wheel and you will get to try that out. I aim for a fun afternoon and appreciate the opportunity to share this ancient craft with you."
This one day class takes place on Saturday, April 26 for 3 and a half hours, from 1 PM - 4:30 PM.
$80 (plus fees) per ticket, all materials are included in this.
