Hannah Judson

Elegant and whip-smart, performing artist Hannah Judson fuses Americana, folk-rock and threads of jazz to construct narratives that hover between real and surreal, beading lyrics with universal truths, reminiscent of experimental artist Laurie Anderson and songwriter Norah Jones.

Guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and performing artist, Hannah Judson tours internationally, and has shared the stage with notable musicians including The Kennedys, Lola Lennox, Freda Love Smith, Miss Baby Sol, Rachael Sage, Gaelle Buswel, Suzahn Fiering, and Cindy Shapiro. She has performed at festivals including Los Angeles Fashion Festival, Folk You Paris, the Folk Alliance International showcase, and MUSEfest in Philadelphia, London and Paris. Hannah has contributed tracks to indie films like The Bench (Ivy Bona) and Sophia’s Violin (David Smith). She wrote the score for an experimental performance based on Tim Burton’s work, “Pièces Rares du Cabinet de Curiosité du Docteur Loyali Les Enfants de Tim B" (Guerin and Bursztynowicz), and also performed as a member of Lacuna Echo’s experimental multi-media performance. She produces MUSEfest, an international festival that spotlights inspiring women in music, film and art. She produced “The Hannah Judson Beat” podcast focusing on women in music and art during the pandemic. She is a founding member of Boneyard Records, has released three solo albums, and one with Chicago band Kite Club.

Originally from coastal Maine, Hannah also lived in Italy, UK, France, Austria, and Spain. She founded her first band Salt Lick while attending the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She currently lives in Chicago.
