Vancouver-based filmmaker Patricia Gruben will screen her new feature film Heart of Gold at The Castle Theatre Saturday June 12th. The film follows an American army deserter in 1968 who flees to the Kootenays and is sheltered by a Doukhobor family as he struggles to adjust to life in a new country, while his girlfriend becomes increasingly militant as an antiwar activist in Texas. Heart of Gold was nominated for three Leo (B.C. Film) Awards, and was recently named Best Feature at the Women in Focus Festival.
Also attending the screening will be the film's composer, Martin Gotfrit, and producer Ingo Lou.
