Description
Josefina Méndez, a porteña, born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, she started studying music at age 15. At age 18, Josefina was the youngest singer ever to perform with "La Orquesta Argentina de Jazz" directed by Mike Ribas. Josefina also collaborated with Alejandro Navarro, a wonderful singer, in the style of Frank Sinatra, performing jazz duets in a big band setting.
In 2001 she relocated to the United States, finding a new style of life in Colorado. Singing in English, Spanish and Portuguese, she blends the north and south american styles of jazz, from swing to bossa nova. Tangos and boleros are always welcome.
Méndez will be performing classic holiday songs from her album with Mark Johnson, “Christmas Time Is Here.” Joining her on stage will be Walter Gorra (piano), Tim Emmons (upright bass), Chris Goplerud (drums), Mark Johnson (sax), and George Laks (keyboard).
