Description
Beginners welcome! In this 8-week course participants will learn how to use art and art-making to develop a mindfulness and meditation practice. In each session, participants will view art works from the Brooks’ collection or special exhibition while teaching artist, Paige Scheinbergm will provide instruction on basic mindfulness and meditation techniques that use art as a vehicle for self-connection. Throughout the course, participants will draw and paint a series of mandalas, an ancient art form used by Buddhist monks as a meditation aid. Final artwork will be shared in an exhibition in the Education Gallery at the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art.
Classes will meet the Brooks, 1934 Poplar Ave., on Wednesdays from 10:00am to 12:00pm on 9.13, 9.20, 9.27, 10.4, 10.11, 10.18, 10.25, 11.1. An opening reception for the culminating exhibition will be hosted on November 11, 2032 at 2:00pm.
