Program Description: Intro to Kayaking
Join us for a fun, beginner-friendly kayaking clinic on the scenic South Fork of the Catawba River! This course is designed to help you build your kayaking confidence so that you can feel at home on the water this summer! Led by a professional kayak instructor and supported by Catawba Riverkeeper staff, this hands-on experience is perfect for first-timers or those looking to brush up on the basics.
We’ll begin with a brief land-based information session at the Catawba Riverkeeper Headquarters in McAdenville, where you'll get familiar with gear, safety, and paddling techniques. Then, we’ll launch directly from the riverfront and enjoy a relaxed paddle downstream to the Centennial Launch near Goat Island Park in Cramerton.
After the paddle, we’ll shuttle everyone back to headquarters for a casual social in The River Room Taproom, where you can connect with fellow paddlers and South Fork Society members. While you sip and unwind, you can enjoy a video showcase highlighting our team’s work protecting, preserving, and paddling across the Catawba-Wateree River Basin.
Whether you're looking to gain skills or find a community of river-loving adventurers, we hope you leave feeling confident on the water and inspired to keep your paddle journeys flowing!
Kayak, Paddle, and PFD provided with ticket purchase.
