Curtain Call Performing Arts Passion Project Company presents
JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR
What’s the buzz? The first musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice to be produced for the professional stage, Jesus Christ Superstar has wowed audiences for over 50 years. A timeless work, the rock opera is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary and universally known series of events but seen, unusually, through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. Loosely based on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, Superstar follows the last week of Jesus Christ’s life. The story, told entirely through song, explores the personal relationships and struggles between Jesus, Judas, Mary Magdalene, his disciples, his followers and the Roman Empire.
The iconic 1970s rock score contains such well-known numbers as “Superstar,” “I Don’t Know How to Love Him” and “Gethsemane.” A true global phenomenon, Superstar continues to touch new generations of audiences and performers.
Jesus Christ Superstar will be performed on a thrust style stage, seating is general admission, doors will open 20 minutes prior to the show. There are no refunds or exchanges.
Jesus Christ Superstar is performed through CCPAC’s PASSION PROJECT COMPANY. This company has previously produced Next to Normal and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. The intent of the Passion Project Company is to give professional and professionally trained performers in Hamilton and surrounding areas an opportunity to work in an environment that encourages experimenting and working together in a devised based process.
