MEET CHEF BEEJHY

Beejhy Barhany is an Ethiopian-born, Israeli-raised chef and activist who has called Harlem home for the past 20 years. A proud Ethiopian, Jew, and black woman, she celebrates her rich heritage through the food and events at Tsion Café, sharing this vibrant culture with her community. She is also the founder of the Beta Israel of North America Cultural Foundation (BINA), a nonprofit dedicated to showcasing the culture of Ethiopian Jews and all Jews of Color. By partnering with local organizations to share food, art, music, and discussion, BINA empowers others to celebrate Jewish diversity.
