Description
Something is afoot! Join us for this three week class to learn the basics of knitting your first pair of socks. In this course we will introduce you to selecting the perfect yarn for your socks, managing the small diameter knitting using either double pointed needles or two circular needles, and working a top down sock using the tradition heel flap and gusset construction.
Techniques to tackle in this class include stretchy cast ons, short row knitting, picking up stitches, and the kitchener stitch.
Students should be comfortable with knitting, purling, and making basic increases and decreases. Familiarity with knitting in the round is helpful, though the technique will be explored in class.
Your class fee includes six hours of instruction, and printed materials. Students will also need 100g of sock yarn which we will select together in the first class session (prices vary), one set of size US1 (2.25) DPNs -OR- two sets of 24” US1 (2.25mm) knitting needles, scissors, a tapestry needle, stitch markers, and note taking supplies.
Please note that registration fees are non-refundable. Transfer may be available to another session of the same class up to 24 hours before your scheduled start time. While we make every effort to accommodate emergency changes in your schedule, we cannot guarantee availability in other class sessions or make-up instruction beyond the scheduled office hours announced in class.
