We’re so excited to announce that LaFHAC’s Annual Crawfish Boil is back!  Every year, LaFHAC hosts a series of community events during the month of April to commemorate the passage of the Fair Housing Act on April 11th, 1968, with one of these events being our highly anticipated Community Crawfish Boil. This cherished tradition offers an opportunity for us to come together, celebrate our shared service commitment, and strengthen the bonds within our community. All Ages, Free admission. 

 

 

 

This year’s gathering, however, holds particular significance. In mere weeks since taking office, the Trump administration has unequivocally denounced the fundamental principles our communities fought for decades to establish. The termination of federal grants to fair housing organizations like ours threatens the enforcement of vital anti-discrimination protections afforded by the Fair Housing Act—a cornerstone victory of the Civil Rights Movement. The dismantling of equity-focused programs across various sectors risks a devastating reversal of national progress. These developments directly impact our mission to ensure fair housing for all in Louisiana, especially the most vulnerable populations who depend on our work to help keep a roof above their heads.

We look forward to you joining us for an evening of camaraderie, celebration, and renewed commitment to our shared goals. Together, we can continue to advocate and protect the rights of those we serve. The boil will be held on Tuesday, April 15th from 5:00 – 7:30 pm at The Broadside 600 N. Broad Street in New Orleans. FAQ

  • The showtime listed for the event is the time the event starts. Doors will generally open an hour before the listed show time unless otherwise listed.
      We allow pets during the day, but not at night for music (anything after 7pm). Service animals are always allowed.
  •  Please do not park in the Broad Theater parking lot. We have a parking lot for  The Broadside and plenty street parking available on Toulouse and Lafitte. If you would like to be escorted to your car, please ask the Sheriff on duty. You may also park in the Auto Zone parking lot if they are closed. 
  •   Our outdor space has a variety of seating options such as benches, picnic tables, chairs, and stools. You are welcome to bring your own chairs, if you require a seat for health reasons or disability, please ask a staff member and they can provide you with a chair.
